Kids on Fire Video Shoot

A few days ago I Had the opportunity to help out on a music video for Pure Passion For The Desperate Masses for the band Kids on Fire. The video was shot upstairs at The Royal Albert and Directed by Very good friend Randy Frykas. The cool thing the vid was shot using my Nikkor lens adapted to this other device, the Brevis that creates film like grain which was then adapted to Randy's ex1. The fucked up thing when your looking through it everything is the opposite, and was a bit confusing for camera man Tyler Funk when shooting the video. Anyway enough rambling check the pics.

The first 3 photos are of jess when he spent some time in winnipeg, the first 2 which I took with his camera.Canon Mark II with a 50mm 1.2L @ 1.2. yes the first thing I did was crank it wide open to take these shots hahaha.

I processed this short roll of film a few days ago. Its the same roll of film from that bird photo from the last post. Any way these were the other 6 pics on that roll, from start to finish. Yes it is kinda waste of chemicals to save and re-roll 12 shots, cause by the time you load your film your only gonna get like 8 shots out of the 12 remaining,....you follow? Nov 11/09 two days to go!

Everyone, in case you didn't know I'm having a photo show/sale at my apartment. I printed up thirty-nine ELEVEN X FOURTEEN hand printed photos from two thousand and one to two thousand and nine, also I added another wall of hand printed color prints. My apt has pretty much turned into a photo gallery over the last week or so. Please come check it out. The show starts Fri Nov. 13/09 6pm - 11pm and sat Nov 14. 12pm-6pm. All photos for sale!

NOV 7/09 Royal Albert

Friday night at the Albert was a good time for me and my friend joyse. Electro Quarterstaff killed it that night! so hard! dam one of my favorite Winnipeg bands for sure. Joyse and I had a few too many drinks and shots. All I remember is waking up in a Electro Quarterstaff hoodie the next day, wondering what the fuck??? then I remembered the band traded some merch for photos.

The first six photos are from last year. Which weren't used in the Call to arms documentary and I thought I'd share them today. As for the rest.....Don't drink and shoot!

Good times with my buddy Travis, as I showed up at Dons photo Travis was dressed in flannel sportin' a mullet and spankin' the 1980's shades! I got him to skip work for about 10min's so I could capture the hilarity on film, doing so wasn't easy, how would you take all that serious,...with out laughing? I just printed the one pic as I need to replenish my paper supply and scanned the contact sheet.

Sept 23/09 ONE YEAR TODAY,...

last year around this time I took this photo of Dave. I was pretty much just parking my truck at the time and he was just chilling on his step, finally after one year of trying to get the photo to him, yesterday Dave finally rec'd his pic. He was pretty happy when he saw it, and at the same time trying to push $20 in my hand even after I just finished telling him that it's yours, it's free. He ended up putting $5 in my hand anyway, then smiled walked away said "At least buy yourself some good coffee".

I've been kickin' it lately doing nothing much just enjoying my summer and ripping around in my 1978 Honda civic that Ive been working on for the last few years and owned since I was 16. Sometime Last weekend

Hi! K, last post, For today anyway! so last weekend my friend Caroline asked me to teach her some photography stuff. Her dad gave her an old Nikon f2 and a bunch of sweet Nikkor lenes! Pride Tiger vs. C'mon w/The Gorgon But: A few hours before C'MON hits the stage Randy and I got the chance to meet Ian Blurton of C'MON. The first time I saw Ian was back in Sept. 2002 when Blurtonia played the Pyramid. Seven years later Ian hasn't changed one bit, grungy clothes with a long scruffy beard like it was yesterday. Today I tried to find those pics from the pyramid show to post them up. Unfortunately no luck. I do have them somewhere. I'll try to post them in the next few days. Anyways, the last two pics are my favorite just cause I don't really do this style of photography that much anymore. I used to do it a lot back in the day... Last Sunday I had the opportunity to do a shoot with Harry, who trains at the Winnipeg school of contemporary dancers. He needed some head shots for his upcoming dance show at the gas station theatre may 24. Funny thing I had no film and worst thing possible its a Sunday, nothing is open. I totally almost forgot about this shoot. I check my cameras, in my Nikon F5 I had about 15 shots and in my Nikon F4-s I had 16 shots,.. lol I knew that would be more then enough and thankfully it was. Here are a few shots.

Here's one of the two pics that are similar but I couldn't pick from. Joe from hot live guys "live @ the Royal Albert Arms hotel April 4/09". I have countless photos of Joe rocking out, from falling off the stage on to a table, playing while some one is jumping on his back from with in the crowd, to slamming down on the ground from off the stage and head over heals and still rocking out on the guitar. but this one photo stands out to me . It totally reminds me of that classic Kurt Cobain picture.

These are mostly pics of buildings and yes a few pics that u see here well be used and appear in this summers up coming documentary, Call to Arms the story about the Royal Albert.

hey two posts in one day, look at me Yes i am behind on my bloggin' i know but ,. i had 9 rolls of film to process and make contact sheets/print photos and then scan em. here are a few shots from the Sloan interview. Andrew wasn't in the interview but we did get meet him top stairs at the mod club,. he smoked us out but hey! he's a rawk star he can do what he wants. did get this sweet candid shot of him. once again its been awhile but i spent 4days in Toronto march 11 - early morning plane back to Winnipeg Sunday, shooting some stills for this documentary I'm working on.. here are a few street photos.

street car in TORONTO, funny story that goes with this pic,. i saw this sign the first day i arrived in TDOT., tried to take the photo but got blocked out by another train, the last day there me and randy just hanging walking around i tell him this story about this sign on the train and how i wanted to get this shot,. with in moments the train happens to pass me by,. and i snapped this pic.

High Five Drive Video Shoot @ the Rocker Feb21/22

so last weekend i had the chance to shoot photo stills for the making of HFD music video for the song "foreign mantras make great role models". which was directed by randy Frykas and Jim Agapito. its been a while once again since i posted and a little late on happy new years! as the saying goes 2009 and feeling fine, or that was the saying new years night at the Albert,.

DEC24/08 my trip to dauphin to visit my parents started rad but unfortunately for me and carol 10 miles away from neepawa and 2 hours from dauphin yet, my truck breaks down,....good news Cory left the same time we did so jumped into his car and everything else was good.

DEC25/08 Xmas was spent the whole day with my dad on the highway trying to fix my truck, ended up getting it going after 9hours or blah blah blah.. don't get me wrong it was awesome to kick it with my dad in -35 weather outside with lots of coffee and pepperoni sticks .

DEC31/08 new years! kick it off with randy, chilled at the Albert. all in all a good night.

minus 40 helpin a friend move

yesterday helped randy move, minus 40 with wind chill, i hate Winnipeg winters. cold hands cold feet, think I'll start doubling up my socks now, get rid of the old man socks with holes and flat pancake SK8 shoes that i had since the summer. here is a photo of what randy had to leave behind during his move, due to cold weather and and well Mo(his cat) ripped up his only couches. so we just threw out back. everyone help yourselves!

p.s randy i want my my pumkin scone.

Ex-girlfriends show DEC5/08 was kinda different, lack of anyone in the bands knowing whos playing with who and how to start a show. here's a photo just before the show, i like this photo the most. i only took a few shots that night with the F5,. i still haven't done anything with the images from the D700 yet. i well get to that soon. hopefully this week

Nikon D700 vs Nikon F5

yesterday picked up the d700 for trial and error. good friend christian love at Don's photo who hooked me up with the Nikon rep, guess the Nikon rep thought it would be a great idea to have me shoot some low light photography aka live bands rawking out, compare those shots with the f5.

I'll be shooting with the d700 this Friday at the Albert as welll the f5, the ex-girlfriends/77 guns/ the clap, I'll be comparing the low light w/ the d700 at hi ISO compared to the f5 w/ my 12500 ISO film. noise vs grain. ill post some pics up in the next few for comparison.

Saturday night @ the Albert had the chance to shoot attack in black and show closer,. ladyhawk.

attack in black(Spencer Burton) seemed a little outta his mind during the set while struggling with a none ready set list. and forgetting a few lines. all in all great show.
as far as ladyhawk,... first time I've seen these guys live,. personally i think they tore it up!

k,.. so anyway kinda bummed. so my Buddy cam nikkel(http://www.camnikkel.com/) calls me up SNFU @ the zoo tonight be there and shoot!,... that part off the night was rad,. shot the show got awesome pics! later on the night my film ends up being confiscated by the police some weird shit happens.. blahblah blah,.. mean while im still up its 7:16am.

i need sleep

now don't get me wrong,. has nothing' to do with the show. basically I'm just pissed and praying that I'm getting my film back today!
